Who Are We and What Do We Do?
The Alliance of Manufactured Home Owners Inc (AMHO) is a not-for-profit association administered by a Management Committee which consists of up to nine members. We also encourage contributions from individual members.
Established in February 2022, AMHO believes that after many years of unsuccessful lobbying by like organisations, a new strategy was needed. It was decided that as a priority, we would engage with Members of the Queensland Parliament who are the only people who can change the Act. But first they had to understand what was wrong with the Act!
We took a bipartisan approach as the welfare and wellbeing of the tens of thousands of homeowners in residential parks throughout Queensland should be beyond political boundaries. For that reason we are working with Members of Parliament from all parties. We want them to understand and discuss the issues in Caucus and their party rooms.
As well as seeking changes to the current legislation, AMHO participates with government advisory committees, working groups and is recognised as a Peak Body, having undertaken a significant parcel of work during the recent Consultation – Regulatory Impact Statement by delivering Information Sessions to homeowners in residential parks throughout south-east Queensland.
AMHO provides its members with information and insights on matters pertaining to the MHP as well as providing assistance and advice when problems arise concerning residential park living. AMHO will provide only general advice and will always encourage homeowners to write to their Member of Parliament and to seek legal advice, usually from Caxton Legal, as there is no cost.
AMHO members receive a quarterly Bulletin, monthly updates, conducts presentations in residential parks as well as being available via email and phone. Our website is a good source of information about living in a residential park. Members of our Management Team have extensive experience in the legislated dispute mechanism and are available to assist and support homeowners to move through the process which can be quite protracted.
AMHO is run by unpaid volunteers who have come together to advocate for the rights and protection of all people who live in manufactured home parks throughout Queensland. We receive no external funding – our costs are met solely through membership fees. We encourage you to support us so that we can ensure that your rights and responsibilities as a homeowner in a residential park are met. Click here to go to our membership page.
Our friendly and supportive team is passionate about helping manufactured home owners with assistance and advice in all aspects of residential park living.
